【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethoddeterminesthedamageresistanceofmultidirectionalpolymermatrixcompositelaminatedplatessubjectedtoaconcentratedindentationforce(Fig.1).Proceduresarespecifiedfordeterminingthedamageresistanceforatestspecimensupportedoveracircularopeningandforarigidly-backedtestspecimen.Thecompositematerialformsarelimitedtocontinuous-fiberreinforcedpolymermatrixcomposites,withtherangeofacceptabletestlaminatesandthicknessesdefinedin8.2.Thistestmethodmayproveusefulforothertypesandclassesofcompositematerials.1.2Aflat,squarecompositeplateissubjectedtoanout-of-plane,concentratedforcebyslowlypressingahemisphericalindenterintothesurface.Thedamageresistanceisquantifiedintermsofacriticalcontactforcetocauseaspecificsizeandtypeofdamageinthespecimen.1.3Thetestmethodmaybeusedtoscreenmaterialsfordamageresistance,ortoinflictdamageintoaspecimenforsubsequentdamagetolerancetesting.TheindentedplatecanbesubsequentlytestedinaccordancewithTestMethodD7137/D7137Mtomeasureresidualstrengthproperties.Drop-weightimpactperTestMethodD7136/D7136Mmaybeusedasanalternatemethodofcreatingdamagefromanout-of-planeforceandmeasuringdamageresistanceproperties.1.4Thedamageresistancepropertiesgeneratedbythistestmethodarehighlydependentuponseveralfactors,whichincludespecimengeometry,layup,indentergeometry,force,andboundaryconditions.Thus,resultsaregenerallynotscalabletootherconfigurations,andareparticulartothecombinationofgeometricandphysicalconditionstested.1.5ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetexttheinch-poundunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
